Hunger Games nail series - District 12 theme

For this one, I actually used a polish from the China Glaze Hunger Games line.  I decided to do a District 12 theme from the book/movie, which is a coal mining town.  The main grayish base color is Hook & Line from the Hunger Games nail polish line.  For the thumb, I used Nails Inc Magnetic Polish in Trafalgar Square and used the China Glaze magnetix magnet.  For the index and ring finger,  I stamped a design that is similar to the design on the book cover.  I used the BM19 nail stamping plate.  For the thumb and pinky I added OPI's black shatter to represent the coal.  My shatter is kinda thick now so it looks really chunky but it fit the theme.

Hunger Games Effie Trinket Reaping nails

For this Hunger Games inspired mani, I decided to do Effie Trinket's nails during the reaping.  Unfortunately it's hard to get the colors exact because of lighting issues, and cuz I didn't have the exact colors but I tried to find something close.  I used China Glaze's "Traffic Jam" for the magenta base color and then using a makeup sponge I applied Revlon's "Gold Coin" using the gradient effect application for the tips of the nails.  For added glitter effect, I used China Glaze's "Fairy Dust" as a top coat.

Hunger Games themed nails v.3

I wanted to try out some of the new Hunger Games colors from the new China Glaze collection.  On the index and pinky I used "Harvest Moon" from the Hunger Games Collection.  For the center of the heart on my ring finger, I used "Electrify, which is a gold and red glittery polish from the same collection. Harvest Moon looks awesome in the sun. It's a very shimmery, multi-faceted orange and gold color with a chrome finish.  Very metallic looking.  I added some studs as extra add ons.

Hunger Games nails v.2!!

So....I have done a previous Hunger Games nail design before.  But this time I decided to do the book cover design.
I didn't have any of exact colors so I just mixed some colors to make the gray, as well as the color I used for the mockingjay. I used China Glaze's "Happy Go Lucky" (yellow), and "Camisole" (bronze) and mixed it with white to create the mockingjay gold color.  For the gray, I used China Glaze's "Concrete Catwalk" and mixed it with white to make it a lighter gray color for the circles.
China Glaze is also releasing their Hunger Games nail polish line. They have so many awesome colors! I have purchased 3 from the collection but am still waiting to get the rest.  They have come out early at Hot Topic and Sally Beauty, however they sell out fairly quickly! I was able to get "Electrify", "Mahogany Magic" and "Dress Me Up".  Once I buy the other colors that I want, I will put some swatches up. I'm just waiting for them to come to the store where I get my polish from because they sell it cheaper.  At Hot Topic they are $7, and at Sally's they are $5.99.   The movie comes out March 23rd! CAN'T WAIT!!

Hunger Games nails

I decided to do something inspired by the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.  The books are amazing! I can't wait for the movie to come out in March.  Katniss, the main character, was given the nickname "the girl on fire", so I decided to do something with some blacks and golds.  It was honestly a little difficult to draw the mockingjay logo on my nails because I have such small nails. And, I didn't want to do it over so that's how it turned out on the first try. I also currently just got the Nubar 2010 which is used as a top coat on my pinky and index finger.  I love all the flakes style polish.  They create a cool effect and change colors when they're under different lighting.  The Nubar 2010 has red, orange, and green tones. <3 it!
