Ever since I was a little girl, I loved art - from painting pictures, to painting nails and faces. I loved "borrowing" my mom's makeup and nail polish, even when I knew I'd get in trouble for using it. I'm no beauty expert, but I do love fashion. BE U.
Wanna know how you can get your very own glitter heart sweater such as the one seen on Taylor Swift, JLo, and Shay Mitchell? Well here's a simple way of making your own!!
You will need:
Modge Podge (I'm using glossy finish to give it a metallic sheen)
Fine glitter (I'm using red for the heart)
Paintbrush or sponge brush
Fabric pen
Cardboard
Sweater/shirt (I got my sweater from Cotton On)
Small container to mix glitter and modge podge
Step 1: With your cardboard, cut out a heart shape big enough to fit your sweatshirt or t-shirt Step 2: Using your cardboard heart, place it evenly onto fabric and trace around it using a fabric pen/fabric marker or chalk. Step 3: In a container, mix equal parts of glitter and modge podge
Step 4: Carefully paint inside the lines of your tracing and fill the heart completely.
Step 5: let it air dry overnight and then you are done!
For this Hunger Games inspired mani, I decided to do Effie Trinket's nails during the reaping. Unfortunately it's hard to get the colors exact because of lighting issues, and cuz I didn't have the exact colors but I tried to find something close. I used China Glaze's "Traffic Jam" for the magenta base color and then using a makeup sponge I applied Revlon's "Gold Coin" using the gradient effect application for the tips of the nails. For added glitter effect, I used China Glaze's "Fairy Dust" as a top coat.
Soo...... I am so excited because I finally own the infamous Connect The Dots nail polish, especially hand-made by Lynnderella!! This thing is so hard to get your hands on. Thanks to Llarowe I finally have it! Check out Leah Ann's shop at shop.llarowe.com. Her shop is where I previously won a bunch of nail polishes from her shop and they are all so amazing. I swatched "Connect the Dots" on my sister's nails because she had a very pastel purple (China Glaze "Light as Air") painted on her nails and I wanted to see what it looked like on it. I LOVE THIS STUFF!! probably going to do some swatches with some other colors later on.
I cannot tell ya'll how much I love glitter and gems! Here's another nail design that was really kinda random but I wanted to stick all my rhinestones on one nail to see how it looked. I painted two coats of a nude nail polish as the base color. I then applied Nails Inc Special Effects Holographic Top Coat to each nail. Then I randomly stuck the rhinestones on. I will probably do a tutorial soon on how I apply my rhinestones because interestingly enough they have not fallen off. It has been a week and I have showered and played the piano and gone to school and eaten at Boiling Crab peeling shrimp and breaking crab legs and they are still intact!! They wont come off unless I force them off. Anywho, I hope you like it! <3
I love things with studs. So I put them on my nails! I used OPI's "Did It On 'Em" from the Nicki Minaj collection. It has the perfect lime green color. For the ring finger, I used Color Club's "Peace Out Purple", and put 2 coats of Lynnderella's "The Telltale Heart" glitter on top. The thumb has a shattered heart! The purple shatter is also from OPI's Nicki Minaj collection, called "Superbass". I hope ya'll like it!
Also wore an outfit to match my nails today!
Piano necklace and gold stud bracelet are from Forever 21.
Black bracelet is from Hot Topic.
Black skirt is from Charlotte Russe.
Hi everyone! You know me, I love anything sparkly! I always have some sort of glitter on my nails and the best glitter is the hardest to remove! =/
Eventually I got tired of hard scrubbing and using cotton ball after cotton ball and loads of nail polish remover. So I was browsing the web for easier ways to remove glitter nail polish. Glitter polish tends to destroy the threads of a cotton ball, making it stick to the polish when you vigorously rub it. That makes the nail polish even more difficult to remove. Also, I know that 100% pure acetone will do the trick, but I just don't like the thought of rubbing pure acetone on my nails all the time.
This method that I came across from many different sites, works like MAGIC! And you don't have to worry about over drying/destroying your nails from all that pure acetone. All you need is regular nail polish remover (I usually get mine from Target,Up&Up Target brand and it works fine), cotton balls, and aluminum foil.
Step 1: Moisten your cotton ball with nail polish remover Step 2: Place the cotton ball onto your glitter polished nail and secure it by pressing down on the cotton ball with slight pressure Step 3: Wrap the cotton ball in place, using the aluminum foil Step 4: Leave your fingers wrapped for about 5-10 minutes, then carefully remove the foil with the cotton ball from your fingers. The majority of the polish should be gone, if not all. It may not perfectly remove everything, but you could always go back with the same soaked cotton balls and remove the remaining portions of the polish.
AND YOU ARE DONE!!
No more painful scrubbing!! =D
p.s. -As I stated in my video, I did not come up with this technique. To be honest, I'm not sure who did! I just know that it has worked for everyone that has reviewed the technique.
Now I can paint all the glitter I want without having to dread the day that I have to take it off.
